Vehicle Claims
What to do when you are involved in an accident:
Call the Police immediately if there are any injuries: 10111
Vehicles should not be moved unless they are causing an obstruction, mark the position of the vehicle before moving it.
Don’t let any tow truck operator tow your vehicle, make sure that your policy is stipulated, rather contact Roadside Assistance or your brokers or insurer, otherwise you could be liable for the tow-in charges.
Report the accident to the Policy immediately or at least within 24 hours.
Please submit all relevant documentation to us within 30 days after date of loss. Failing to comply with this condition could lead to repudiation of claim. Together with a copy of your ID and Drivers’ License and 2 Quotations for repair.
Information to Obtain:
Date, time and place of accident.
Detail of the 3rd party: Name of driver, address, contact detail, vehicle registration, vehicle description, owner of vehicles: Name, contact detail, insurance detail.
Injuries: Self / Other parties
Independent Witness: Name, address and contact detail.
Police Detail: Police station, Police officer and Police reference number
Household Claims
What to do in case of a House contents or building claim:
Storm damage: Do necessary emergency repairs, take photos before and after to show the actual damages.
Geyser claims: Call your 24hr home assist line for the insurer to despatch a service provider to assist you.
Theft / Burglary claims: Report the case to the SAPS within 24hrs. If your property is damaged and unsecure you could appoint a security guard to safeguard your possessions to prevent further losses up to limit shown in your policy.
